Corporate Deal of the Year awarded to Express Scripts and Medco Health
Private Equity Deal of the Year awarded to Blackstone buyout
New York - January 10, 2012 - The Financial Times and mergermarket today announced the winners for their 2011 Americas M&A Awards. The winners were based off of mergermarket data and represent those companies and firms that performed at the highest level. 2011 represented many obstacles and uncertainty for M&A within the Americas, making this year’s awards a great achievement within the M&A community. While questions surrounding the condition and future of the global economy remain for 2012, dealmakers showed strength in crossing the 2011 finish line.
Amanda Levin, Editor of the Americas, mergermarket, said of the M&A Awards: “The Financial Times and The Mergermarket Group are proud to present M&A awards that recognize the most outstanding advisory firms for their contributions to deal-making this year. These awards reflect the strategic significance and successful closure of transactions during a time of great global economic uncertainty, making these the most coveted awards in the M&A community.”

Methodology:
mergermarket M&A deal data – an industry standard source for advisory league tables – has been used to determine winners for each of the award categories.
A proprietary methodology is applied to a comprehensive set of deal criteria in order to rank financial advisors, law firms, PR firms, accountancy firms and private equity houses for announced deals during the qualifying period. After completing this process, the top-ranked firm is announced the winner. For financial advisors, accountancy firms, private equity houses and PR firms we have excluded lapsed and withdrawn deals.
Deal data within the mergermarket database is the foundation for award rankings. To ensure the most accurate deal value and volume data is recorded, please submit full details of your firms’ transactions to deals@mergermarket.com.
