A Supermarket for M&A? A quarter of the way through the year and we continue to witness significant M&A deal flow across most global territories. Furthermore, each week the news wires continue to churn out a fresh trail of potential targets, a significant proportion of which are actioned. Now, of course, not all deals are successful. Focusing in on the supermarket sector for instance, and past weeks saw the Sainsbury’s family reject a high-profile private equity consortium bid led by CVC. In France, meanwhile, analysts are still only speculating if the giant Carrefour could become an LBO target. Finally, across the globe private equity and trade buyers are battling to acquire Aussie supermarket chain Coles....
