Welcome to the second edition of Advising Ireland’s Privately-Owned Businesses produced by A&L Goodbody, Bank of Ireland Corporate Banking, IBI Corporate Finance and Kennelly & Twomey in partnership with mergermarket.
After the success of last year’s edition, we decided to revisit and reappraise both the M&A and the general business sentiment of directors of Irish privately-owned businesses. This time around, in partnership with mergermarket, we expanded the sample set to 70 respondents and also increased the weighting of family-owned businesses within our sample. The rationale for this was that, despite the rapid modernisation of the Irish economy in the past decade, Irish family businesses remain a significant part of the overall corporate economy and in many ways have underpinned the impressive growth of recent years.
