As the year rolls on, the month of March continues to see M&A activity around the globe. One of the larger deals recently has been by the listed French producers of alcohol, Pernod Ricard, which has won the auction to acquire Vin & Sprit, the Sweden based producer and distributor of spirits and wines, from Government of Sweden, for €5.6m including net debt of €346m. After a drawn out auction process, coupled with concerns about the state of the current unstable market conditions, the strength of the target business appeared to pull the deal across the line. The transaction is being financed through a syndicated loan provided by BNP Paribas, Calyon, JPMorgan, Natixis, the listed France based bank, The Royal Bank of Scotland and Societe Generale...
