mergermarket is pleased to present the half-year 2009 edition of European Private Equity in Review. This report highlights the latest trends within the private equity industry, covering activity in several of the top deal-making sectors and regional markets across Europe over the first six months of the year.

Unsurprisingly, H1 2009 was as tumultuous a period for private equity players as it was for market participants across all sectors of the economy. The asset class had fewer buyouts and exits over H1 2009 than in the year prior due to several factors, such as market uncertainty and leverage availability, which colluded to make deals substantially more difficult to complete.
