Corporates

 

Marthieu Bolté will join Montreal-based BTB Real Estate Investment Trust [TSE:BTB.UN] as VP and CFO, effective 25 May. He will replace Benoit Cyr, who will retire in September. Bolte previously worked as executive VP and CFO at Montreal-based real estate investor and developer Ivanhoé Cambridge. During his tenure at Ivanhoé Cambridge, the company acquired Atlanta-based industrial distribution facilities operator IDI Logistics for estimated USD 3.5bn, per Mergermarket data, in January 2019. Prior to Ivanhoé Cambridge, he served as CFO at General Electric Capital Americas, where he was responsible for M&A and business development.

 

Kenny Choi has joined Toronto-based mineral exploration and acquisition company Yukoterre Resources [CNSX:YT] as CEO, replacing Rene Bharti. He previously worked as legal counsel for Toronto-based mining sector merchant bank Forbes & Manhattan Group, per his LinkedIn profile. In October 2015, during his time at law firm Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg, Choi worked on the acquisition of waste management segment of Saint-Laurent, Quebec-based waste recycling company TFI Holding by Vaughan, Ontario-based diversified environmental services company GFL Environmental, per Mergermarket data.

 

Paul Hill will join Kitchener, Ontario-based growth-oriented technology investor Quarterhill [TSE:QTRH] as president and CEO, effective 1 June. He currently works as CEO for Oakville, Ontario‎-based fintech company Carta Worldwide. Prior to Carta Worldside, Paul was CEO of Toronto-based web-based research software developer DisclosureNet, which was acquired by Pleasanton, California-based financial reporting and compensation management software developer Certent in June 2016, during his tenure.

 

Vancouver-based silver and gold miner Summa Silver [CNSX:SSVR] has appointed Galen McNamara CEO. He previously served as senior project manager, exploration and development for Vancouver-based mining company NexGen Energy [NYSE:NXE; TSE:NXE]. He replaces Hani Zabaneh. In 2014, McNamara co-founded Saskatoon, Saskatchewan-based exploration consulting company Pioneer Exploration Consultants and Regina, Saskatchewan-based company unmanned aerial vehicle borne geophysical survey company Pioneer Aerial Surveys, per his LinkedIn profile.

 

Tim Thiessen has joined Vancouver-based uranium exploration company Roughrider Exploration [CVE:REL] as CFO and corporate secretary, replacing Jasmine Lau.  Most recently, He worked as CFO for Vancouver-based silver and gold mining company Metallic Minerals [CVE:MMG], per his LinkedIn profile. During 2005 to 2009, Thiessen served as VP of finance at Vancouver-based Endeavour Financial, an advisory company specialized in M&A, equity and debt financing.

 

Private Equity

 

Toronto-based manufacturing and distribution sector investor SBD Capital has appointed Aleem Nathwani CEO and director, and Arvin Ramos CFO. Previously, Nathwani served as business development, Western Canada, at San Jose, California-based compute and storage infrastructure company Nutanix, per his LinkedIn profile. Ramos served as CFO at Vancouver-based lithium mining company Lithium One [CVE:LI], per his LinkedIn profile.
